ユーグレナ、ミドリムシ由来のバイオ航空燃料完成 年内のフライト目指す
ユーグレナ（2931）と米シェブロン・ラマス・グローバル（Chevron Lummus Global）、米アプライド・リサーチ・アソシエイツ（Applied Research Associates）は3月15日、バイオジェット燃料が完成したと発表しました。今後は年内の供給開始とフライト実現に向け、航空会社や国土交通省航空局（JCAB）などとの調整を進めます。横浜市鶴見区にあるユーグレナのバイオジェット・ディーゼル燃料製造実証プラントで、ミドリムシ（微細藻類ユーグレナ）由来の油脂や使用済み食用油など使用したバイオジェット燃料が完成。バイオジェット燃料の国際規格「ASTM D7566 Annex 6」に適合したもので、航空機で使用する際は既存のジェット燃料と混合する必要があります。2018年11月に竣工した同プラントでは、バイオディーゼル燃料の供給を2020年4月から開始しています。バイオ燃料はこれまでの植物油などに加え、さまざまな原料から製造されるようになってきたことから、IATA（国際航空運送協会）では「SAF（Sustainable Aviation Fuel：持続可能な航空燃料）」に呼称を改めています。
