政府は6月21日、インドで初めて確認された変異株の指定国・地域に、新たに9ヶ国・地域を指定し、水際対策を強化すると発表しました。新たに指定されたのは、アラブ首長国連邦，エストニア，キルギス，スウェーデン，ブラジル（パラナ州），アメリカ（アーカンソー州），ペルー，ポルトガル，南アフリカです。これらの国・地域からの全ての帰国者・入国者に対しては、検疫が確保する宿泊施設で3日間待機、入国後3日目に検査を受けるように求めます。また、すでに指定国・地域としている、アメリカ（アイオワ州，コネチカット州，ニューヨーク州，ロードアイランド州）からの帰国・入国者に対しては、宿泊施設での待機を求めません。いずれの措置も、6月24日午前0時以降、実施するとしています。

[ Nine new countries/regions designated as endemic areas for Indian variants ]

On June 21, the Japanese government announced that it would designate nine new countries and regions as designated countries and regions for the mutant strain that was first identified in India, and that it would strengthen its waterfront measures. The newly designated countries are the United Arab Emirates, Estonia, Kyrgyzstan, Sweden, Brazil (Paraná), the United States (Arkansas), Peru, Portugal, and South Africa. All returnees and entrants from these countries/regions will be asked to wait for three days in quarantine-secured accommodations and to undergo inspection on the third day after entry. In addition, those returning from or entering the United States (Iowa, Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island), which have already been designated as designated countries/regions, will not be required to wait in accommodations. Both measures will be implemented after midnight on June 24.
