Govt. of Japan: Entry restrictions eased for China, Korea; quarantine not required after business trips
The government of Japan has made clear that it will soon begin to drastically relax its border protections aimed at preventing the inflow of the novel coronavirus. Japanese returning from overseas business trips will, under certain conditions, no longer be required to quarantine for two weeks. This is aimed at boosting economic recovery by making it easier to conduct overseas business travel. This marks the first steps in the government's policy toward easing refusals of entry and recommendations to cancel travel plans, which began in January of this year and have since expanded, to 12 countries in which infection rates have gone down, including China and Korea. Visas will continue to be restricted, so foreign tourists are not expected, but those entering the country from designated regions will not require testing.
